OBIEE: HTML5 charts instead of flash charts

A few days ago many people have faced problems with playing flash content in their browsers. OBIEE [by default] uses flash for showing charts so your dashboards have started to look like this:

Senior Firefox Support Lead Mark Schmidt wrote in Twitter:

The same happened in Chrome and Opera. Right now there are new versions of flash available for most (possibly all) browsers so you can simply update the flash plugin and continue to use everything as usual. But you never know when the same will happen again. Fortunately, there is a possibility to change charts type from flash to HTML5. It's very easy and takes only a few minutes. All you need to do is to change (add) one parameter to Presentation Server's configuration file.

So open instanceconfig.xml file from $ORACLE_INSTANCE/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1 directory (in my case its /u03/oracle/Middleware/instance/instance1/config/OracleBIPresentationServicesComponent/coreapplication_obips1/instanceconfig.xml).

You need to find Viewssection and then Charts. Depending on your config, there may be no Charts section. In this case, you should add it to Views. Inside the Charts section, you need to add DefaultWebImageType tag with html5 value.

<Charts>
<DefaultWebImageType>html5</DefaultWebImageType>
</Charts>

Before:

After:

Now save this file and restart Presentation Services.

I don't know is it normal or not, but I got the following after restart:

One chart is OK, and another one is not. It was a browser issue, but cleaning browser cache didn't help me. After a full restart of a browser, everything becomes shiny and bright.
